Mobile brake service for all Chevrolet and GMC vehicles in Los Angeles — Silverado and Sierra truck towing loads, Tahoe and Suburban heavy SUVs, Equinox, Traverse, Colorado, and more. We come to you.
Chevrolet and GMC share platforms — Silverado and Sierra, Tahoe and Yukon, Colorado and Canyon are mechanically the same brake system. We service all of them. From high-mileage Equinox commuters to tow-package Silverados to loaded Suburbans, we match the pad compound and service to how you actually use your vehicle.
Silverado and Sierra owners who tow boats, trailers, or fifth-wheels put heavy load on front brakes every stop. We spec semi-metallic or heavy-duty pads for tow-package trucks — not the lightest compound that fits. Tell us your typical load when you call.
Full-size GM SUVs weigh 5,500–6,500 lbs loaded with passengers and cargo. Front rotors on a loaded Suburban carry significantly more stopping load than a car — we account for vehicle weight when speccing pads and checking rotor wear.
HD Silverados used for work — towing gooseneck trailers, hauling heavy equipment — put extreme load on the brake system. We carry HD pads appropriate for 2500 and 3500 applications and inspect brake hardware more thoroughly on high-use trucks.
We measure rotor minimum thickness against GM specs and check for warping. Older Silverados (2014–2018) are known for front rotor warping under repeated heavy towing stops — we diagnose accurately before recommending resurface or replacement.
GM recommends brake fluid inspection every 2 years or 30,000 miles. Work trucks and tow vehicles cycle more heat through their fluid — we test moisture content on-site and advise based on actual condition, not schedule alone.
These GM brake patterns come up consistently across our LA service calls — especially on trucks and large SUVs.
The 2014–2018 Silverado 1500 has a known front rotor warping pattern under repeated heavy towing stops. The stock rotors are undersized relative to the truck's tow capacity on certain configurations. We measure thickness and lateral runout on every older Silverado before recommending repair.
Tahoe and Suburban front brakes carry enormous load — especially when the vehicle is loaded with passengers, luggage, or towing a trailer. Front pads on a loaded Suburban can wear as fast as 20,000–25,000 miles. Rear brakes often last 50–60% longer, so we always measure both axles before recommending work.
Many Chevy and GMC base trim trucks and SUVs don't have electronic brake pad wear sensors — no dash light when pads get low. The mechanical squealer tab is your first warning. If you hear it, don't wait. We recommend annual visual inspections on Chevys and GMCs without sensor systems.
Colorado and Canyon base-trim models have rear drum brakes. Drum service is different from disc — shoe replacement, drum resurfacing, and wheel cylinder inspection. Many mobile mechanics only do disc work. We do drums properly at your location.
GM's StabiliTrak stability control uses individual wheel braking to correct oversteer and understeer. Worn brake components — especially a seized caliper — can trigger StabiliTrak warning lights. We inspect calipers and slides on any Chevy or GMC with a stability warning related to braking.
Silverado and Suburban owners run their trucks to 150,000+ miles. Brake fluid degrades over time regardless of mileage — 4–6 year-old fluid has absorbed significant moisture. Tow vehicles are especially susceptible because brake fluid gets hotter under repeated heavy stops. We test on-site.
From Chatsworth to Compton, Van Nuys to Long Beach — we come to wherever your Chevy or GMC is parked.
Tell us your model, year, and how you use it (towing, hauling, daily commute). We confirm parts and price upfront.
Home, office, job site, or anywhere flat in LA County. We arrive with your Chevy/GMC-specific parts pre-ordered.
Disc or drum, light-duty or heavy-duty — we handle the full job at your location with professional equipment.
We verify stopping performance before leaving. Most Chevy brake jobs complete in 1–2 hours.

Chevrolet brake pad replacement with The Brakes Guy typically runs $160–$350 per axle depending on the model. An Equinox is at the lower end; a Silverado 2500HD or fully-loaded Suburban is higher due to larger rotors and HD pad compounds. We provide an exact quote based on your model before scheduling. Call (310) 307-1431.
Yes. GMC Sierra, Yukon, Canyon, and Terrain share platforms and brake components with their Chevy counterparts — Silverado, Tahoe, Colorado, and Equinox. The service is identical. If you drive a GMC, call us as you would for any Chevy.
This is a documented pattern on 2014–2018 Silverado 1500s, particularly on configurations with tow packages. The OEM rotors can be undersized relative to the thermal load put through them under towing. We address it by installing rotors with higher heat capacity and speccing a semi-metallic or performance-grade pad that dissipates heat more effectively — not just replacing like-for-like.
It depends on the trim. Base-trim Colorado (WT and some LT) trims use rear drum brakes. Z71, LT with optional upgrade, and higher trims typically have four-wheel disc. We can confirm from your VIN before your appointment — and we do drum service on-site if that's what your truck has.
Standard-use Silverado front pads in LA traffic typically last 35,000–50,000 miles. If you tow a trailer or boat regularly, plan for 20,000–30,000 miles — sometimes less on the 2014–2018 models with the rotor warping issue. Rear pads last longer in most configurations. Brake fluid should be checked every 2 years.
Sometimes. GM's StabiliTrak uses the brake system to correct vehicle dynamics — a seized caliper, stuck slide pin, or severely uneven pad wear can trigger it. We inspect the full brake system on any Chevy or GMC with an active stability warning related to braking. If the issue is ABS sensor-related rather than mechanical brakes, we'll advise you accordingly.
